Question I've lost internet on my computer, I've been having problems all week getting online now I can't at all. My comp is a 1.8gz W/XP. I have:
Avast...Antivirus
Zonealarm...firewall
Adaware SE...spyware prog.
I don't go to and bad sites, I basically go to ESPN, NFL.com ect. I'm shut down without internet. Is there a program that can restore internet connections to normal no matter whats wrong, It seems that every 2 years or less i have to rummage thru my comp to find valusble stuff to back up and then format.
I can do windows updates no problem but can't open a browser, internet explorer, mozilla...neither work????????????????
Answer You most probably have a virus / worm - which is not being detected by avast/zone alarm/ adware.
I can recommend a long term solution - use Ubuntu. Its an extremely friendly Linux. It comes "fully loaded" - with all bells & whistles - which work out-of-the-box, without the requirement of too much of tweaking.
