Internet/Network Security - Internet use

Question
My employer is very restrictive on computer use at the work place.  Many sites are blocked through the use of filters.

My question: I have a job issued laptop that is used largely at home - work and personal use - when at home I'm logged onto my home internet source.

Is there any way "my boss" can still monitor my use of the laptop  through the pc's "address" or does the fact that I'm working on an independent line make me "immune" from detection?

Thanks

Zeek

Answer
Hi Zeek.

Yes, he can do it through remote programs installed on your laptop that can monitor what you do online or when you sincronize your laptop on your company´s network.

But I can ensure you that this is not usual. A few companies do that. Ofcourse he can look at in your browser´s historic, but I KNOW THAT YOU DELETE YOUR HISTORIC, COOKIES, LAST PAGES VISITED, don´t you?

Take a look in the softwares installed in your laptop. If you have administrative privilegies, install a personal firewall so you will be able to control every incoming and outcoming connection.

Best regards.
Vinny!
