Question I purchased and installed Mccafe anti-virus through CD. The updates are failing because Mccafe is not identifying my internet connection. My internet is through a LAN connection wired to a router. The 'manage network' section shows the line between my router and internet as 'disconnected'. But i have no problems using my internet otherwise. only Mccafe is not able to detect the connection. Please help to resolve this issue.
Answer SV,
The first thing you should do is check the Automatic Update settings in McAfee and make sure the manual update settings exactly match the automatic settings. I have seen numerous cases where these settings did not match and caused the update to fail. If that doesn't work and you are running McAfee Firewall, make sure that the built-in Windows firewall is disabled (Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Windows Firewall > OFF.
Lastly, if the first two steps didn't work check out this bulletin that McAfee posted on their site to address this issue: https://us.mcafee.com/root/ProductUpdate.asp?cid=35172
Good luck with everything. If you need further assistance don't hesitate to ask!
