Question Hello Ryan,
I recently reformatted my computer (compaq evo D510CMT)because of the virus issue.
Everything went pretty well while formatting.
But after I was done with formatting I couldn't connect to the internet.
I went to device manager and I noticed that I've exclaimation mark on 4 devices: Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible).
Then I went to properties and clicked on reinstall drivers but it didn't work !!!
Then I went to HP's website and downloaded all drivers and software for my computer and saved it to my USB drivers. And then I transferred those into this computer in 'my computer' folder.
I tried to reinstall the drivers once again but it couldn't install ! What am I doing wrong?
Answer Nidhi,
This is a pretty common problem that a lot of people run into when reformatting. Here's what you need to do: open the device manager > right click on the Ethernet Controller icon and select Properties > click on the Driver tab > Update Driver > select "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)" and click Next > select "Don't search I will choose the driver to install > click Next > select Have Disk then Browse to the folder where you put the Ethernet Controller driver > click on the driver icon to highlight it then hit OK > click Next then Continue Anyway > When it's done installing, click Finish then restart your computer. You can use this procedure to install the other drivers that have exclamation marks next to them in Device Manager.
