Question
John Hi I need your help. Im running Windows 8 on my laptop.  I believe someone has been looking at my computer.  Im working on my taxes with software.  Is there a way to see if someone has been on my computer besides myself, is there history please help, thank you Ken

Answer
Under Control-Panel-Administrative Tools-Event Logs you have the option of viewing a few different logs.  Their names excape me at present but two I remember are Applications and System.  System, I believe, shows login attempts (if it's configured to collect this info.  Aside from this, there are too many variables top consider, to determine where to look for their presence.  If they have yoru password, it;s even harder.

You can also check temp and tmp directories for files you don't expect. There are likely to be many files but inspection of their contents ought to give an idea of their purpose.

Hope this helps.
