AboutCommander Chris Wagoner Expertise I am a police Commander that conducts Computer Crime Investigations at the Local, State and Federal level. I have investigated all most any kind of crime with which or which involved a computer and the internet, from murders, kidnappings, extortion, drug dealing and more. I can answer questions concerning Computer Forensics (the art of recovering information from a suspects computer), Computer Crime Investigations and Internet Investigations. I can answer questions on almost any crime in which a computer is used. I am a Federally Court Certified Expert in Computer Crime and Computer Forensics. I have worked in both Facebook and MySPace, also in Peer to Peer investigations. In addition I can answer questions concerning child predators and how to make your children safer on-line.

Question My fiance and I were wondering if you could help us block the porn and adult websites from our conputer. We use Opera, and I haven't found any that completely work with Opera. And also if there is a way you can help us with trying to block adult pictures on image searches, such as Yahoo images, while maintaining the ability to look at pictures in general. While I have not worked a lot with Opera, other than trying it out to see what its features were like, I think I remember that it has the same system for blocking websites that the others do. You can add websites individually (slow and cumbersome unless you have a list)to a blocked web sites list. Or you can try and use a program that blocks some of them.
Under Opera's menu item "tools" there is a choice for "preferences" and then select the tab "advanced". Then click on "content" on the left side menu and then at the bottom of that window are two buttons that allow you to edit, add and otherwise control what sites are allowed or not. You can add sites here or words that you do not want to view.
Or you can use a free service like OpenDNS. http://www.opendns.com/features/overview/
They do a great job of filtering out all the things you talk about. Go there to see what the service is and how it works, but let me say that it works great, and many people have started using it.
Also on Yahoo Images, there is a "safe search" choice under the place you enter your search terms. You have to be in image search before this shows. Search for some image like "sunset" when they come up, look under the search term area and you will see safe search. Set this to whatever you feel comfortable with.
