Question Hi I am currently in an interracial relationship, I am a white woman dating a black man. We get into many arguments because of an underlying issue of me not telling my parents about my relationship. I get very frustrated and I don't know what to do. I fear my parents will just tell me that I don't know what I want and that this will not last. Do you have any advice for me?
Answer Hi RM,
The best thing to do would be to tell your parents. They will have an opinion or offer advice, but that does not mean you have to follow through with their advice. Interracial dating/marriage is so common, it's unfortunate that some people still find it unacceptable. As long as you are happy, there should not be a problem. Maybe introduce them to your boyfriend, if he's a great guy hopefully they could look past his race.
