Interracial Relationships - getting her to be more open

Expert: Melissa Burton (a.k.a Bee) - 10/25/2006

Question
Hi,I'm a Black man dating a Mexican woman.I was wondering How Do I get her to open up?The Mexican men she had in her past were very macho.I am,on the other hand is very open.I help out and ask for her input in a lot of things. It's hard for her not to say"It's up to you" or whatever you like".This gets VERY annoying. She feels if she is not being controlled by her mate then he's not happy. What do you think? This goes for the bedroom too.

Answer
Hello
Well talk to her about this if you haven't already. Tell her that it can be very annoying and if she wants to make you happy, then she needs to be a little more open and take control in some situations. Also be patient with her. It sounds like this is something she is used to so give her time to get out of this habit. But make sure she understands that it is a problem and that she should improve in that aspect. When she understands that make sure she will at least try to improve. So tell her about the problem, make sure she trys to improve, then give her time until she feels completely comfrtable with doing that. Good luck with this and I hope things will start to improve with her!
Melissa
