3) Indian Elephant vs Nile Crocodile

4) spotted hyena vs sloth bear

5) harpy eagle vs anaconda

6) python vs leopard

Answer
Hi, Siddharth

The differences between Asiatic lions and African ones in terms of appearance are their mane and size. Asiatic lions are somewhat smaller than African ones, and males weigh about 160 kilograms normally, they however range from 140 to 180 kgs. African lion males, are bout 190 kilograms on average, and range from 185 to 195 kgs.
It's reported that the African lion is more fierce than Asiatic ones. However, this could be a misconception due to the small population of Asiatic lions. I guess that would mean the African lion would make a better match for a Bengal tiger.

Mugger crocodile vs Zebra: the Nile crocodile regularly hunts and brings down zebras in Africa. Since mugger crocs are similar in size to Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus) it would probably have good chances. Nile crocodile vs Asiatic elephant? Elephant, of course.

Asiatic lion vs Cape buffalo: two male Asiatic lions could very well bring down a cape buffalo, but a single one would have trouble handling the buffalo since the bovine would only have to concentrate on one enemy.

Spotted hyena vs Sloth bear: A Spotted hyena would be at a serious disadvantage if it had to face alone. Its jaws are formidable weapons, and they can heavily wound or even kill something like a gazelle or cheetah with a single bite. But a bear, and one as large as the Sloth bear is much more powerful than these. Since its jaws are its only weapons, it wouldn't be able to defend against the bear's attacks anyway, and as hardy an animal a hyena is, it's in no way resistant to the claws of the sloth bear.

Harpy eagle vs Anaconda: the harpy eagle as formidable as it is still a bird and would be at a disadvantage against an adult anaconda. See, birds are rather fragile animals and have hollow bones, an anaconda as powerful as it is could very easily break the wing bone or equivalent of a harpy eagle, sentencing the bird to death.

Python vs Leopard: pythons have been known to kill leopards, and they are often much, much stronger (and actually, all constrictors are) than people think. A python of five meters would be quite a formidable opponent, and I would say the match would depend on who gets the first grip. If the leopard used its strong jaws and two-inch fangs to grab the python by its head and neck, it would win. Otherwise the match would end pretty quick.

Best regards,
' Fady
