Subject: interview confusion

Question
Why do interviews say the following: "I'll be calling everyone in the next few days to let them know EITHER way".

I have never had one person EVER call me saying they didn't choose me for a position. I've had this happen on 10 or so interviews over the years.

Why do people say this? Thanks

Answer
Dear Matt:

It's kind of like when a man goes on a date and says, "I'll call you."

Seriously, some employers actually do call everyone back.  In a situation like this, if you don't hear from them in a reasonable timeframe, you should call them.  It's annoying, I know, but it's the only way to know where you stand.  Warmly, R.Butler
