About Marty McCrea
Expertise
I can answer questions about honing your idea and helping it to become more real in your mind, your research, and within your speaking. My expertise is in answering the large questions that you have into more manageable pieces. I can also assist you in finding the source of the data that you can use to prove and pitch your idea if that's the path that you're on.

Experience
In my opinion, the current way to invent is inherently flawed. Regular people like us normally get “eaten up” by the proverbial sharks in the water. (corporations, invention submission companies, lawyers, etc)

We can not stand for this any longer; you feel this too, yes?

Experience:

I have helped people think and re-think their ideas for years. As a byproduct of talking with hundreds of inventors, there is a new and very revolutionary way to invent that will be available to the world in 2008. Nobel Prize Winner Albert von Szent-Gyorgyi once said that "Discovery consists of seeing what everybody else has seen, and thinking what no one has thought." I agree with this truth with all of my heart. Now let's talk about your question, your passion, and how I can help your idea gain momentum if it is ready.

Question
Hi Marty, I've written you before about a product idea I have. I'm the one obsessed with my idea, can't stop thinking about it, had a business in the past that failed and am still on the computer trying to figure out what to do. I totally understand the benefits of self discovery because this allowed me to write a provisional patent, that I'm quite proud of btw. I don't know why I'm hesitant about going with my lawyer's advice on getting this product developed overseas, about how much money I will spend on the prototype and manufacturing. He wanted to charge me 3k for a provisional, one that I realize I could write myself. I trust my idea, I just don't trust the process. There is too much advice out there and I change my course of action weekly. I believe I would like to go with licensing my product to manufacturers. I know I have to get a NDA signed, and I'm comfortable with that but simply enough I don't know who to call. I don't know who to call. My product will be sold in Halmark, Borders, B. Daltons, Barnes and Nobel and all gift stores across the country. Who do I get in touch with as far as manufacturers and licensing this product? When I do get intouch with the appropriate companies, the product I have has many other product idea "extentions" involving the same inventing componants. Do extention ideas need a patent as well, or am I advised to get a trademark? (I have a name for it) Thank you so much for reading this and if you can lead me to a list of numbers and names of companies I'd be forever grateful. See you at Halmark, sincerely, Cindy

Answer
Hi Cindy;

Do not be afraid of the process, be AWARE of the process.  There are companies out there that are evil in the way they scam inventors.  There are companies that are fantastic in how they interact with inventors.  What I would suggest is; if you are ready, is to contact a friend of mine that has a consulting company named Arkk.  Hi name is Alan and I trust him enough to use him for my own personal inventions.  What he does is he and his partner have relationships with manufacturers overseas and help inventors like you and I traverse the slippery slope of overseas manufacturing. His fee is $500, however he refunds you half of the fee upon the first order of your product.

Alan's website is http://www.arkk.com/

Tell him that Marty sent you.  Please let me know after you talk to him and if you need anything else.  Take care Cindy!

Regards;

Marty McCrea
