Question mark,
this could be a long shot, but have you ever had to build a
low voltage ac to dc power supply for anything? if so, i've
been looking high and low on the internet for a retailer
that i can get the transformers from for a reasonable price.
i'm looking for a 12v 5 amp transformer, the lowest i've
found is about $13 from a surplus store, and thats a little
more than i want to spend. do you have any recomendations
on locating these?
thanks for what you do.

Answer Daniel,
Thanks for giving me a chance to answer your question. My AC DC expertise is limited. My first question is "how many do you want?" If the quantity is significant, say a couple of hundred or more I would send you to alibaba.com. There are plenty of companies who would make these for you. You would have to pay the UPS bill however. If you are just needing a few than $13 price tag is a very small price to pay for R & D and as long as its available, I'd take them. Sourcing is very simple. It is very tough to give you constructive advice with out knowing quantity and purpose. If it is not for resale, just spend the dough. If you need a whole bunch, alibaba.com or the "Thomas Directory" online could also be of help.
