Inventing New Products/Inventions/who to approach with my idea

I have an idea for a product. Its only an idea though. I dont have the funds OR the technical know how, to build a working example. I just wanted to know if anyone knew of anywhere i can go (without them asking for a fee) that could get my idea to the proper people. Or how i can approach the proper manufacturers with my idea, without them simply taking my idea as there own. Thank you.

Hi Eddie,

You are at the very beginning of a really challenging but fun experience, if you choose it.  The answer to your question is kind of.  Let me explain, never go to an invention submission company.  For one, they charge a fee, for two, most of them are scams.  Google to search if there are any inventor's groups in your city and then attend a meeting.  There you can talk and mingle and ask as many questions as you want.  Also read.  Get these books.  You don't have to buy them, you can find them at your local library.  Get them and read them.  Take notes.  Actively read them thinking all the while as you read about your idea and what you just read makes you think of in relation to your idea.  Refine it.  Learn about it.

Keep going.  Always be curious and seek the resources to teach yourself what you need to do next.  The more information you soak up, the more confidence, connections and capital you will have and have access to so your idea can live loud through you.

Let me know if you have any questions along the way and Happy Inventing!

Commercialization of an idea is truly an art form and I'm really good at letting people borrow my paintbrush. Although, it's important to note that you are your own artist, I can't paint what you see in your mind, only you can do that. But I can help. I can answer questions about honing your idea and helping it to become more real in your mind, your research, and within your speaking. I can answer questions about market research, validation, and where to go to make your first contact. My expertise is in answering the large questions that you have into more manageable pieces. I can also assist you in finding the source of the data that you can use to prove and pitch your idea if that's the path that you're on.

In my opinion, the current way to invent is inherently flawed. Regular people like us normally get “eaten up” by the proverbial sharks in the water. (corporations, invention submission companies, lawyers, etc)

We can not stand for this any longer; you feel this too, yes?

I have helped people think and re-think their ideas for years. Nobel Prize Winner Albert von Szent-Gyorgyi once said that "Discovery consists of seeing what everybody else has seen, and thinking what no one has thought." I agree with this truth with all of my heart. Now let's talk about your question, your passion, and how I can help your idea gain momentum if it is ready. If your idea is not ready for the market yet, I'll help you determine how you can get ready.
