I live in Palm Bay, Florida and have recently had to relocate (by a few feet) my sprinkler pump. I lost the prime, due to opening the system in front of the check valve, reinstallation went well and was able to reprime the pump in about 5 minutes. I had good water pressure/coverage for one day and now the water pressure is very low and all zones won't presurize. All the sprinkler heads have an intermitten hissing (air) sound. The pump is about 20 years old (1.5 hp 115v). I have checked the union (directly before the pump) and the check valve (just prior to the union) and the elbow (going down to the well), and don't believe there is an air leak. Do you think it could be the pump or the well? The well is 53 ft deep and I seem to hit water at 13.5 ft..

Answer larry, did you give it some time. if you've got the heads hissing then you have air getting into the pipes some source. I woould check the system piping first, after the pump. Look for a leak on the system. Air is getting into the pipes from somewhere. Check that first, that is the easiest thing to fix and will keep you from spending money on the pump/well needlessly and let me know. Jim
