Irrigation - irrigation

Question
I am putting in a sprinkler irrigation in a 5 acre field using 2 inch PVC pipe, my risers will be 2 inch Gav steel, the steel pipe will be encased in concrete will have between 60-80 psi in the line my question is what should I use to seal the threads on the connections between the PVC and steel pipe to make sure of no leaking. I am having trouble with PVC connections blowing out under pressure.

Answer
My first choice would be teflon tape, 3-4 wraps.  The paste type sealants tend to have particles migrate into the sprinkler heads and will plug up the mechanism and the nozzles.  For you PVC connections that are blowing out, try using a different glue than the one you are using.  I have had good results using the grey glue for areas with higher pressure.
