The husband is Muslim and becomes an American citizen and his wife is a westerner and converts to Islam. She contributes financially to the household expenses by having a job and giving her husband all her salaries. She takes care of the children and the household without maids or servants, all by herself, without any help. She takes very good care of her family and the household.
The husband has no living parents, only four siblings.
Can the husband write a will according to the American laws of inheritance (as he became an American citizen) and give all his assets to his wife and children ONLY?
The husband wants to do that in recognition what his wife did all for him. The husband is the one who knows best who DESERVES best to inherit from him. This is acknowleged by the fact that in the west people can determine 100 % who inherits from them and who does not.
I find it NOT RIGHT that the wife - in this case - should only get 1/8 of her husband's assets, considering that SHE CONTRIBUTED SO MUCH TO THE MARRIAGE.
According to the Koran she could have kept her salaries to herself, she was not obliged to contribute to the household expenses. Therefore she should now get more than 1/8 of the husband's assets.
Doesn't state law overrule religious law?
The husband does also not want to give anything to charity, because his wife and his children need all the charity for themselves, as he cannot give them much.
Please, I want YOUR opinion, please do not cite Koran verses or hadiths!
Awaiting your kind answer.
Answer Hi Leila
You said "Please, I want YOUR opinion, please do not cite Koran verses or hadiths!"
You asked me this question because you want to be on the right path and not displease God right? So whose opinion should be more important to you? Mine or what God says?
Koran 9:31 They took their Priests and Monks to be patrons besides God, and the Messiah son of Mary, while they were only commanded to serve One god, there is no god but He, be He glorified for what they set up.
This is a technical matter and I'm not so knowledgeable about it. But hope you find the following links helpful:
