Question
I am going to revert it Islam very soon...Would it be wrong of me to not tell my family and friends?  I am a 46 yr. old woman and i am very excited to embrace Islam but I don't think my elderly parents would be happy.  I have been searching for religion my whole life( I was raised a christian-catholic) and now i am happy to find Allah in my life.  My fiance' is a moroccan muslim and he will be helping me with my shahadah.  I am very excited and look forward to being a good muslim, In'shallah.  Thank you for your time

Answer
Dear Joanne,

Salam alai kum. ( Peace be upon you )

There is no wrong if you do not disclose your transition.

Of course shaitan will not let your parents encourage you, but you need to be firm like a rock.

Allah says in the holy quran

Holy Quran [4:119] "I will mislead them, and I will create in them false desires; I will order them to slit the ears of cattle, and to deface the (fair) nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes Satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest.

Congratulations and all the best.
