Question
QUESTION: Assalamualaikum! Sir, I have a current account in a Bank. This is my salary account, opened by by my employer to transfer salary. I want to know, is it allowed to have account in a bank which is not based on Islamic principles? What should i do? I don't think there is any bank here in Pakistan which purely an Islamic bank. Moreover i want to know is it halal to buy a car or something on lease?

ANSWER: Walaikum assalam.

Having an account in bank is alright, since it is unavoidable. But please dont take the interest in your balances.

It will be haraam if you take the money of interest.

On lease is a different thing. But if you are buying the car on loan (interest based) then it is haraam.

its better to buy second hand car and seek Allah's help in getting more money and buy a new one.

[Quran 2:276] Allah (God) will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: For He loveth not creatures ungrateful and wicked.

QUESTION: JazakAllah! I wanted to know one more thing regarding selling on installments. I sold my LCD monitor to my colleague on monthly installment of Rs.1,000 for 8 months and an advance of Rs.2000 (Total Rs.10,000). This price was offered to me by him and i thought at that time that he is giving me more money that i could get from anyone. We were in the computer market at that time and if he wished he could have inquire the current price. At that time a new LCD costs around 11,000.
I bought this LCD (which i sold to him) in Rs.18,000 3 years back.
Is it a Halal deal?

ANSWER: Salamalaikum.

It is perfect halal deal. You did not force him to buy the LCD or use any influence.

If buyer and seller agree to a price, then there is no problem. He bought it so that he could pay in installments. There is nothing wrong in it.

Assalmalaikum

Dear Shahid,

Nice question. Actually car insurance companies if not involved in the interest trade, actually are not haraam. There are Islamic insurance companies now, and you can ask the conventional insurance company how they cover their expenses and the exact mode of function. If there is no interest involved, there is no problem.

They cover the risk with a small premium. What i think is that accidents dont happen all the time. Harldy 2% of vehicles may face accidents. They take premium upto 4% and that is their profit.(Correct me if it is wrong)
