As Salaam Alaikum!

Scholar Ahmer is obsoletely correct, Diwali celebration is actually  a legend of Sri Ram's return to Ayodhya along with wife Sita after 14 years exile and upon rescuing her from Ravan.

However, there are other stories that has been linked to religious lines to ensure Diwali celebrations continued through all these ages.

So, when a Muslim wishes non muslims on Diwali occssion, it's purely on the occasion of Sir Ram's return to Ayodhya along with Sita & not

aligning with Hindus mythology of other reasons to celebrate Diwali.

May the Almighty Allah have mercy on us to forgive our sins and guide us all to the true path of Islam as per the Koran for rest of our life.
