Question hey
what's yur proof about the different sects that are with us today in islam? don't u believe what happened on ashura in karabala and pakistan had something to do the the sunis or even the wahabies because as i know that if wahabies kill the shia then they go to heaven, why do ppl believe in only their sect and regard other sects as wrong? do u have all the answers to those. u just believe the sect/ religion yur born in is the right one but u don't do yur research about the others, so u grow up to believe yur sect is right, don't u think?
Answer Assalamu Alaykum (May peace be upon you)
>> what's yur proof about the different sects that are with us today in islam?
I am sorry, but I did not get this part of the question. There have been many movements in Muslim history and all of them have been recorded in the books of history.
>> don't u believe what happened on ashura in karabala and pakistan had something to do the the sunis or even the wahabies because as i know that if wahabies kill the shia then they go to heaven, why do ppl believe in only their sect and regard other sects as wrong?
I agree with the first part of the question, which is that it had something to do with Muslims themselves. These acts have nothing to do with Islamic doctrines and Islam does not approve of hatred and violence. I believe that scholars in no sect (whether Sunni, Shi'ite, Wahabi, Ahmedi etc) ever had any doctrines regarding killing members of other sects leading to heaven.
>> u just believe the sect/ religion yur born in is the right one but u don't do yur research about the others, so u grow up to believe yur sect is right, don't u think?
I could not agree with you more. The problem is that many well educated Muslims and those who have quite a lot of knowledge about Islam are completely illiterate about Quranic teachings. As a result when someone tells them something about Islam, they only look at who the person is. If the person is from their own sect and a well known scholar his word is usually taken to be true and accepted. It is important to be able to judge the words of scholars against Quran and know whether what they are saying is correct or not.
Secondly, when someone gets up to understand the Quran, they usually decide first what the truth is and then make sure that they understand Quran according to that. When we do that, we are actually not wanting to know what God wants from us rather we just use Quran to reinforce our existing thoughts because we were born as such.
If one just wants to reinforce their own point of view, there are numerous ways in which that can be done including using Quranic verses to do so, but the fate of those will then surely be decided by the Almighty on the Day of Judgment. With respect to Quranic verses God says,
"He misguides many with it, and he guides many with it. And he does not misguide except the miscreants." (Al-Baqarah 2:26)
It is pertinent to say that we must understand Quran and our understanding of the Quran must be free from all kinds of biases and done in order to understand what God Almighty wants from us. Once that is done, sectarianism will automatically subside – people will not be Sunnis or Shias or Wahabis, rather they will all be Muslims – those who would have submitted to God completely. That is the only way to success.
I hope this helps. I may be posting this question along with its answer anonymously on my website, www.omeriqbal.com. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask.
