About Don Radlauer
Expertise I`m originally from the United States, and now make my home in Israel - after living for some years in Hong Kong and England.
In addition to handling general questions about Israeli life and history, I can field questions relating to strategic aspects of terrorism and counter-terrorism, as well as some tactical aspects. As an Associate of the International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT), I can draw on ICT`s accumulated expertise in this area. As the Lead Researcher for ICT`s "al-Aqsa Intifada" Database Project (and author of "An Engineered Tragedy", ICT`s report on the findings of this project), I have become the world`s leading expert (indeed, as far as I know, the world`s only expert) on the demographics of the victims of the phase of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that began in September 2000.
Going beyond terrorism per se, I can answer questions regarding pretty much all aspects of the Israeli-Arab conflict.
Experience
Experience in the area I've lived in Israel for over eight years. For more than five years, I have been associated with the Institute for Counter-Terrorism at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel. My own role there is, to a degree, that of "expert in everything else" - that is, I'm less of a security expert than many of the other researchers there, but I have a broader background in other areas, including banking and finance, general scientific subjects, and so on. I also can draw upon the knowledge of other ICT staff.

Subject: Israeli Reaction/s to Iranian Nuclear Program
Question Greetings Mr. Don Radlauer!
I am Thomas dela Cruz, a Filipino AB-Consular and Diplomatic Affairs student from the College of Saint Benilde. I'm presently researching on the Iranian Nuclear Program for my thesis study. Unfortunately, I have not been able to take data from primary resource persons due to the sensitivity of my research topic. In fact, all my requests for interviews or correspondences to the US, EU, and Israeli embassies in Manila have been rejected. My trouble comes in the fact that primary resource persons are a requirement of my thesis study. I was wondering if you could answer the following questions to represent the Israeli side and consequently be my study's primary resource person.
1. Please state the Israeli stand regarding the Iranian Nuclear Program.
2. Why does the State of Israel have interests in the Iranian Nuclear Program? What are these interests?
3. What is the nature of the State of Israel’s nuclear program? Is it for exclusive peaceful purposes, militaristic, a combination of both, or neither? Please expound.
4. What are the events, evidences and/or facts that contribute to the State of Israel’s reluctance to believe that the Iranian Nuclear Program is solely for peaceful means?
5. Is there sufficient basis to believe that Iran’s Nuclear Program is for peaceful purposes only? What are these bases if any?
6. What do you believe is an effective means of deterring Iran from pursuing nuclear weapons? Is the State of Israel employing such means?
7. What is the State of Israel’s stand regarding the American Military’s presence in Iraq and in the Middle East in general? Should these be considered a justified nuclear threat to Iran?
8. Would the State of Israel be willing to submit itself to the same standards of a peaceful nuclear program being imposed on to the Iranian nuclear program if these standards are followed by the Iranian government?
9. In light of so many modern conflicts in the region, what is the effect of a nuclear weapons state in the Middle East for the region’s peace, stability, and security? Why so?
10. What are your responses to the recent United Nations Security Council resolutions and International Atomic Energy Agency reports regrading Iran?
11. What does it take to finally and satisfactorily resolve the crisis over the Iranian Nuclear Program?
12. What are the steps and/or policies being taken by the State of Israel in contributing in the resolution of the said crisis?
Please help me Sir. I really am desperate for a primary resource person.
Hoping for your positive response on the matter.
Sincerely,
Thomas dela Cruz
Answer Dear Thomas -
I will be happy to offer you what help I can - although of course I have no official position, so anything I say is strictly in my capacity as a private citizen. At the moment, I'm on vacation, staying with my parents in Florida. Since you have a rather long list of questions - many of which require rather long answers - I would suggest that we arrange for me to answer them in interview format rather than in writing.
I will be back in Israel on Thursday, and once I'm there I'll be reachable via Skype. If you're set up to use Skype as well, we can talk as long as we want, without running up a phone bill. If you would like to proceed in this manner, contact me via a follow-up question and we'll arrange a mutually-convenient time to talk.
Best regards,
-DonR
