Question
QUESTION: I have a 1995 pickup 4 cylinder 2.3 liter,100,000 miles. check engine light is on,blink code 34 egr short by the hyanies manual.By the book it isn't there?any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

ANSWER: Are you sure its not a MAP(Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor failure David? I think that is on the 3.1 engines though if I can remember right. You could try testing the Egr to see if it either just gunked up or if there really is a problem with the wiring as well. I am here so please dont hesitate if you have any more questions okay?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The MAP code is for the 3.1 engine by the book.My question is, in the haynes manual it shows the egr sensor on the intake manifold by the distributor, there is not one there no wires nothing just  a plug in the manifold, did they put it anywhere else?

Answer
So there is no EGR valve of any kind on this vehicle? That is very odd. It should be located on the passenger side on the back of the engine very close to the firewall. The egr valve on early models looks like a cylinder-like can that should have one wire running into the top of it. But your saying there is nothing there at all??
