Italian Cuisine - wine toasts

Expert: Il Magu - 6/5/2009

Question
I recently attended a party and it was mentioned there are two standard Italian toasts with wine (drinks). The first and easiest was Salute! a general blessing. The other which I was wonder what it was literally means 100 years of health. It was something like "centania", can you clarify or verify what I am asking for?

Answer
Ciao Martin!

for the first one you are ok!

for the second one is "100 di questi giorni" or "100 anni di salute" that are:

"100 di questi giorni" - one hundred days like this one (a whish for the birthdays)

"100 anni di salute" - always for the birthdays is a kind of wish of hundred years of good health...

hope this will help and if yes please rate me.

ciao

MAGU
