Italian Language - My Family, My Heart Translation

Expert: Francesco Marchesani - 6/2/2009

Question
I was wondering if the phrase would translate properly in Italian.  Im
considering having this phrase tattooed on myself but I want to be sure that
the phrase translates properly and does not sound or look ridiculous when
translated from english to italian. Also, is this a phrase that italians would
typically use? I want to honor my fathers heritage so I just want a phrase
about family that suggest how extremely important they are to me.  If there is
a traditional phrase that is used about family I would also appreciate it if you
could tell me what it is with the proper translation!  Thank you so much!

Answer
Hello,
your phrase can be translated as "la mia famiglia, il mio cuore". It doesn't sound ridiculous at all, and is surely a great way to honor your heritage.
A less literal translation could be "la mia famiglia e' tutto il mio cuore" (my family is all my heart).
