Italy - traveling from rome to positano

Expert: P L Byrne - 6/4/2009

Question
I'm traveling to Rome in aug.  what is the best commute to positano from rome and while in rome how far is florence and the best way to go  grazie

Answer
Thank you for your question.

If by commuting you mean going back and forth on a daily basis, probably wouldn't work.

Otherwise, take the fast train to Naples, then connect in the Naples train station to the Circumvesuviana train to the last stop, Sorrento, then step outside the train station to find the bus to Positano that takes from half an hour to more depending on traffic that is heavy in high season.

Take the train from Rome to Florence, the fast train takes one hour and 40 minutes.
