Question
Hi,
We're planning to visit Rome for 4 days and then onto Civitavecchia for a cruise.
First question: I noted that there is lot walking involved with most of the tours in Rome. Would it be easier for us to take along a stroller for our 2 year old for tours of the Vatican, Colosseum, Catacombs...etc.
Second question: what is the best mode of transport from Rome to the Civitavecchia port?
Any helpful information and suggestions will be much appreciated.  Thank you.
Regards,
Jenny

Answer
Thanks for your question. You are so right, lots of walking over cobblestones with limited curb cuts. Fun, eh? My suggestions are a) if your child fits and will ride in a backpack, have that as an alternative transport mechanism; trying to wheel a stroller through the crowds you'll find in some places will be tricky; and b) take a folding umbrella-type stroller that you can just throw away before you head home; it will get all dirty and bent.

Best mode for you is either the cruise company's program, or a private car & driver. Here is one we recommend to our guests in our vacation rental business. Email him for a quote. Stefano: stefanogrey.car@alice.it. He also offers a good value for your trip in from the airport.

Taking a taxi to the train to taxi to the ship won't save you much and will be a logistics nightmare.

Have a great trip. Buon viaggio!
