Italy - Transportation between Lugano and Milano (LIN) airport

Expert: Edoardo - 9/24/2009

Question
We will be staying in Lugano and need transportation to the LIN airport in Milan.  We are taking a flight from LIN to Rome (FCO).  What is the best way to do this, other than taking an expensive taxi?  Thank very much.

Answer
Hello,
the cheapest way is taking the train from Lugano to Milano Centrale and then take the connection to Milano Linate (There's a shuttle service running every 30 minutes, it takes 40-50 minutes depending from the traffic).
Now a question: is it mandatory for you to take the plane?
From Lugano every hour or so you have a train to Milan and from there an easy connection to Rome. It takes a total of 5 hours from Lugano to Rome. I guess that also by plane it will take the same time if you consider the check in/out operations.
Dep time from Lugano is 8.48  9.48  11.48  Arrival at 14.29  15.29  17.29

Have fun,
Edoardo
