Italy/rome off the beaten track

my husband and I will have a few free days in Rome before he has to attend a meeting.  We've been there before, done all the standard tourist things and would like ideas and recommendations of other things to do and see more off the beaten path- things we probably haven't done or seen.
Do you have any suggestions.

Hello Fay,

You can add avoiding crowds and waiting in long lines when planning a visit to Rome, or Florence and Venice for that matter!

You would do well to read some of the articles I've written about how to get the most out of a visit to Rome by clicking here:

The best deal in town without a doubt is visiting the four, great museums that make up Museo Nazionale Romano - for only 7 euros this ticket covers entrance to these four magnificent museums and the ticket is valid for three days. Read about this deal by clicking here:

It would be amiss of me not to mention my new Perfect Traveller app available as a free download in the iTunes App Store:

Almost finished the audio tour on the Pantheon which is a must see around 9am when you have the place to yourself!

Safe travels and enjoy a city I often call "my city!"
