Answer
Hi again Pam,

Michael Jackson is an undoubted and unparalleled musical genius and has written some of the best known and loved songs in music history. I know a little bit about his creative process and it goes something like this:

Michael 'conceives' the song, usually a bass line, a string part or rhythm and lays the instrument part down in a home studio either using his voice as the instrument (he is an incredible beat boxer, able to mimic instruments incredibly accurately - check out songs like 'Stranger in Moscow' to see how he often uses his voice as an instrument on record).

Michael can also play quite a few instruments: Piano/ keyboard, guitar and drums/ percussion. He has said in the past that he is not a master of any of these instruments but can use them enough top put his song ideas down.

Once the basis of the song is there, he has a demo. This can be given to session musicians who take it into the studio and fill out the sounds of the song.

Michael guides the musicians performances until he is happy enough to lay down the vocals. MJ is a well known perfectionist so this can be a long process!

Computers are used in every recording studio nowadays. They can make the recording process quicker but not necessarily easier.

I hope the above is helpful and interesting.
Best wishes
