Your assessment of MJ song is not accurate. The song is not about starting something and being unable to finish it but rather its about gossip mongers who stir up confusion by being busy body liars. The excerpt from his verses clearly shows this:

verse 1:

I Took My Baby To The Doctor

With A Fever, But Nothing He Found

By The Time This Hit The Street

They Said She Had A Breakdown

Someone's Always Tryin' To Start My Baby Cryin'

Talkin', Squealin', Lyin'

verse2:

You Love To Pretend That You're Good

When You're Always Up To No Good

You Really Can't Make Him Hate Her

So Your Tongue Became A Razor

Someone's Always Tryin' To Keep My Baby Cryin'

Treacherous, Cunnin', Declinin'

You Got My Baby Cryin'

If you examine the verses you will see that Michael is referring to gossipers and stalkers who can be hurtful and destructive by lies they say that are untrue about famous people and people they might love or encounter ##including himself and perhaps #baby#girlfriend## Such lies always "gat her crying".

Perhaps the "cant feed the baby" line is perhaps gossip utterances.

But MJ encourages the distraught victim (his girlfriend) at the end of the song by his assurance that becuase such rumors are untrue, she should rejoice becuase the pleasant truth will always prevail.

Lift Your Head Up High

And Scream Out To The World

I Know I Am Someone

And Let The Truth Unfurl

No One Can Hurt You Now

Because You Know What's True

Yes, I Believe In Me

So You Believe In You
