Question
Dear Howard,

I am interested in purchasing a Jaguar Xj6 series 1 (1972). For what mechanical issues should I be keeping my eyes open?

Kind regards
Cara

Answer
Hi Cara,
My first inclination was to say "all issues". I love the XJ-6 Jag as I have 5 of them (only 2 run) I have the other 3 for parts cars. The XJ-6 is a fine car but expensive to maintain if you are not a mechanic yourself. You should hire a Jaguar mechanic to carefully inspect the car and give you a written report of it's condition. It is money well spent even if you don't buy the car. You can easily fall into a money pit buying a 27 year old car of any kind. It is just that the with a Jaguar the pit can be deeper.
