AboutSienna Expertise I live on the west coast of the island, in the sugar cane valley of Westmoreland parish, just outside the beach resort town of Negril, and will be happy to assist with questions that would cover the areas of the west and southwest coasts....areas such as Negril, Whitehouse, Treasure Beach.
I can help withquestions pertaining to Jamaican culture, food, places of interest, your general hotel location in regards to activities or excursions in your area, whether you're in a villa, resort, or small independent hotel.
I am however, NOT a travel agent, and cannot be of help making reservations at any all-inclusive properties.
Experience I moved here from California nine years ago, to live here with my husband, a Jamaican....his home is now my 'adopted home.' Before moving here I visited Jamaica as often as possible, staying in tourist towns and remote 'bush country'.
We have a small micro-business, offering tours for people who wish to go "off property" and choose do so in a more personal atmophere, rather than on large tour buses with 30-50 others. We go to all of the customary tourist attraction spots, and also offer some destinations you will not find offered through the hotels or large tour companies.
We believe that the people of Jamaica, both adults and children, have much to offer visitors and we strive to involve members of any community we pass through so that you can interact with them directly. Our goal is to have you enjoy your outing..to have fun while learning something new.

Question I really want to move to Jamaica very soon. I have been doing research on how to
move there and create a business. I'm from Maryland and travel frequently to the
island. I recently got married to Winston from Brown's Town (in St. Ann) in April
this year. I was wondering what did you do to make the transition happen and
how long did it take you to do it?
Answer Jamaican greetings from the island, Monette! Does Winston live with you in Maryland or here in Jamaica? If he is still a full time resident here, he'll be your best link to getting established in a business, setting up a home residence, learning about your neighbors, learning to drive, shop, network, etc.
What did I do to make the transition? Quit my job, left behind my house, car, possessions...all of it. Told my mother and brothers and sisters they could keep, sell, toss, whatever - I wanted no part of any of it. I cut all ties.
I moved here with a small suitcase and one carry on.
Not the most conventional of methods, I'm sure.....
I made the decision to make the move, bought a ticket, and settled in all within a month's time.
It was impulse...and 10 years later, here I still am. I have no regrets, it was right for me...although in retrospect it would have been a bit smarter if I'd not given away my bank accounts. :)
Where are you at this time in regards to making the move? Do you plan to live here full time or still go back and forth on a regular basis?
