Question Hi Pam,
There are 6 of us staying at Silver Sands in Jamaica july 13th-july 20. We read that groceries for the week may cost us 600.00 (us dollars). Is it wise for us to take some of our staples and snacks with us,or is the food really the same price?
Answer I bought a few grocery items at one of the stores in Montego Bay and I didn't think the prices were exuberant. With the cost that the airlines are now charging for luggage, and overweight luggage, I wouldn't bother bringing anything with you.
I am not sure how you are getting to Silver Sands...are you hiring a driver? Have him stop at the little grocery store in town, as the prices at store around Silver Sands may have marked up their prices as you would be paying for the convenience. The one I shopped at was in a little shopping center across the street from the Riu Montego Bay entrance...or right around there.
