I have just been to the Holiday Inn Sunspree Jamaica. I would advise you to change hotels. I have visited Jamaca many times. I stayed in The Riu and Starfish Trelawny. The Holiday Inn is rated incorrectly. It should be 2-star. It's a dump and gives Jamaica a bad name. If it was my first visit, I would have been very disillusioned. As it wasn't, I immediately transferred to the Starfish which is clean and welcoming. The Holiday Inn was dirty and the rooms were disgusting.

Hi,
My wife, son and I spent 5 days 4 nights from June 4-8, 2007 at the Sunspree, Jamaica. If you are staying there, request a Room in Building 5 which has been renovated. Rooms are very clean (building 5), bathrooms redone nicely with nice countertops and very nice walk-in shower stalls. A/C units are upgraded also. At least that was our experience in an ocean view room in building 5.
That said, we had a great experience overall. Staff is awesome and very friendly. Weather was great for us. Food is good. There is a Jerk Hut with great jerk food. One Italian restaurant (reservations only one day in advance at PM sharp) Great food there. One tropical type cuisine (reservation only same as above) not bad a all. Buffet daily for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. I would say the buffet is no bad. Another hut serves burgers, grilled cheese, hot dogs and fried fish sandwiches all day from 11:30am til 1 AM.
Amenities are pretty nice and very much kids friendly with various activities all day.
This is a great value all-inclusive resort. This is NOT a 5 stars resort, so don't expect 5 stars foods. AS for staff, I would certainly give them five stars.
Do not tip, unless you feel like you ought to. But, make sure you do it discretely (just pretend you shake their hand to thank them and slide a bill or two in their hand(common practice and discreet).
