AboutSteve Battisti Expertise I`m always willing to give help, or at least my opinions on things related to Japan. I think I'm especially strong at helping out non-native Japanese speakers with the language. Also, helping others understand the culture, such as U.S. businessmen who have to do business with Japanese. I'm not doing translations right now, unless it's just a phrase or a word. More of a language and general Japanese culture guy than a travel/history expert.
NOTE: I cannot answer questions about your pottery or art objects! If you're trying to find out more about a piece of art, I would strongly recommend you take it to an antique specialist. Sorry!
Experience 10+ years of studying Japan and Japanese language. I lived there for 5 years, one as a student, four as a businessman. Most importantly, I lived there because I wanted to live there, not because someone sent me there!
While doing research, I stumbled upon your previous answer to someone
working on a Discovery Channel show. Well I am working on a National
Geographic show looking for similar information! Specifically I want to learn
more about fukiyas, or blowdarts, that they used to use. Would you be a
good contact for this, or do you know someone else who would be?
And by the way, I saw you lived in Natick. I grew up in Framingham for 21
years. Small world.
I'd really appreciate your help because finding specifics on Ninja's fukiya is
turning out to be pretty difficult.
Thanks!

Answer Hi Brian,
Weird that you grew up in Framingham! I was born there, but only lived there for two years, then moved back to the area for completely unrelated reasons 26 years later.
In terms of fukiya, hmm, I'm certainly no expert. In fact, the first place I turned was Wikipedia:
