Question I Have a project on cultural diversity due. I thought it would be interesting to do it on japanese educational system compared with the american educational system and how they stack up with each other. I was wondering if you could give me some insight. Maybe some links that i could go to. I have to Make a presentation using excel and powerpoint, so if you could give me some information with some statistics that would be great. Just point me in the right direction, because the internet is so big i dont know where to begin.
Answer Normally I do not help with homework, but I will at least point you in a few directions.
You may want to try touristy type sites geared toward the basics of Japan. Such as japan-guide.com. Here's an example: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2150.html
There are also personal accounts of going to Japan, in this case a teacher went for a short while and wrote a journal of sorts. It's not very good as a factual aspect, but it's nice to use as a first-person account. See it here: http://www.k111.k12.il.us/king/japan1.htm
And one other is http://en.wikipedia.org which, again isn't very reliable for complete factual information (because anyone can post info there), but it will give you more links and ideas to go from.
The education system in Japan is supposed to have all the schools exactly alike (same text, curriculum, etc). As time as continued, it is becoming more selective, but the same general aspects are there.
