About Mark Christie
Expertise
I can answer questions about Japanese language (written, spoken, history) and about Japan as a whole - the culture, history (in specific the period from 1600 to present day), and geography. But my main expertise is in the Language itself; the grammar, kanji learning, JLPT in the UK, and Kansai-ben (the Kansai dialect).

Experience
I've studied the Japanese language for about 5 or 6 years, along with the culture and history for two years at university level.

Education/Credentials
Studied Japanese language and history at University, self-taught myself before that.

Question
Hello I'm from Belgium and i met a girl who speaks dutch but she is from Japan and i love her. Can you translate this sentence please : Catherine I love you, you are in my heart.

Answer
Hi Kris,

Thanks for the question

There are a few ways that this could be translated as, deopending on how close the two of you are: Japanese honorifics... always fun... But, I'll give you how I'd translate it:

カソリンちゃんが好きで心の中にいる
kasorin-chan ga ski de kokoro no naka ni iru

or

君が好きで心の中にいる
kimi ga ski de kokoro no naka ni iru

The second uses the word 'kimi', which is used between a boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife situation... While the first one puts a little more 'distance' between the two of you. But, either way, I'm sure she wont mind.

All the best

Hope this helps

Mark
