About Dreams
Expertise
I have been teaching myself the language for the past seven years, having consistent practice with Japanese materials. I can help translate things from English to Japanese or vice versa. I can also help you get started if you're planning on taking up the language. =) I'm most familiar with things like anime, manga, J-pop, games and so on.

Experience
I began learning the language in 1999. I frequently talk with penpals and natives in Japan, as well as continually keep up practicing with authentic Japanese materials.

Question
Hello,
I recently found a Japanese name translator. I wrote my name - Daniel and the answer was that Daniel = Danieru.
 1-st Question: is this correct?
2-nd Question: please tell me how to pronauce Danieru or whatever is my name in Japanese.
Thanks.

Answer
Hello,

Foreign names can often be translated several different ways, depending on how close of a translation can be provided to match the original phonetics of the word. "Danieru" is not wrong, but I think "Danyaru" is closer. :)

You would pronounce "Danyaru" as "dah-nyah-roo", but spoken quickly as in normal speech, it will end up sounding very much like your real name. Additionally, when there is a U at the end of a word, it often gets "whispered", so to speak, so it would sound as though the name gets cut off at the final R.

Hope that helps,
Dreams
