Question
I recently purchase a jeep wrangler 4 cyl 1991 they are hoses coming out from sending unit atop the gas tank to the front of jeep they were leaking tighten up clams now Ok but now I have a gas smell coming from around gas cap and under the the area where the gas first goes in check all hoses no leaks new gas cap

Answer
Hi Doug,

You might want to check (with your local Jeep dealer) to see if the Fuel Tank Sending Unit Gasket recall has been done to this vehicle -- and if it was, has it split or cracked again? The recall is 624, and has the same symptoms you describe -- even if you tightened it, it can still crack, allowing vapors to escape.

Good luck!
