Jehovah`s Witness - Why pray to God in Jesus name?

Expert: Daniel Selinski - 1/18/2009

Question
Okay! - Jehovah's witnesses are simply in denial! Your answer is a practiced doctrine that attacks the Trinty and/or Godhead. And at best, it only does an excellent job at rising doubt.

Now, I would like to know why do Jehovah's witnesses pray to God (Jehovah), in Jesus name??? It don't make sense since he's not Almighty God (as you explained).

Didn't the Nation of Israel pray to God in the name of Jehovah??? (please answer)

if you say no, why not? I'm sure Moses told Israel the name Jehovah.
[And I used to appear to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as God Almighty, but as respects my name Jehovah I did not make myself known to them. Exodus 6:3 - NWT]

And as a matter of Fact - PSALM 83 is proof Israel prayed and acknowledge the name Jehovah in prayer.
[That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah,
You alone are the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 83:18 - NWT]

if you say Yes, Israel prayed to God in the name Jehovah... Why than do Jehovah's witnesses pray to Almighty God in Jesus name??? He's not almighty as you explained plus.... wouldn't you say the name Jehovah is far better than the name Jesus???

Why would God teach Israel to pray in the name Jehovah, but now wants us to pray in Jesus name which is without a doubt inferior to Jehovah??? it doesn't make sense!!!

Answer
Welcome back Willie, lets look at prayer to God,as you pointed out prayer in thr OT was directed to Jehovah .

Solomon, when faced with the tremendous responsibility of kingship in Israel, prayed humbly to Jehovah in the manner of a child. He asked merely for discernment and an obedient heart, but in addition to wisdom in overflowing measure, Jehovah gave him also riches and glory.

Moses acted as a mediator between Israel and Jehovah and mediator of the Law covenant between Jehovah and the nation of Israel.

(Numbers 12:8) . . .Mouth to mouth I speak to him,. . .

So prayer was directed to God
Later Isaiah said (Isaiah 64:7) . . .And there is no one calling upon your name. . .

So thru Moses and the covenant prayer could be directed to Jehovah.
Your question :

Now, I would like to know why do Jehovah's witnesses pray to God (Jehovah), in Jesus name??? It don't make sense since he's not Almighty God (as you explained).

As I showed Moses was the go between in the OT Gesus is the go between now and because of his death he reedemed mankind

Jesus taught us how to pray and how it should be directed to Jehovah

(John 16:23) . . .Most truly I say to YOU, If YOU ask the Father for anything he will give it to YOU in my name.. . .

So why do we use Jesus name when we pray? because the scriptures make it clear we cant come to God except thru Jesus since we are sinners we need like Israel a go between .

So Christ is therefore the one and only “way” of reconciliation with God and approach to God in prayer.

The churches of christendom pray to Jesus but Jesus said When you pray, say: Father,the very first word tells us to whom our prayers must be addressed—to our Father. Notice that Jesus made no room whatsoever for praying to to him After all, God had said;

(Isaiah 42:8) . . .I am Jehovah. That is my name; and to no one else shall I give my own glory, neither my praise. . .
