I have been one of Jehovah`s Witneses now for over 30 years, in those years I have brought up 4 children, teaching each of them the bible.Being one of Jehovah`s Witnesses has helped me cope with my Epilepsy and bring up a daughter with learning difficulties.I have conducted bible studies with people from nearly every denomination i.e. Muslim. Having used the bible all these years to answer peoples questions, I feel I am qualified to give any answer regarding Jehovah`s Witnesses and the bible.
Experience
My experience has been one of attending bible lectures 5 times a week,taking part in these lectures in front of an audience and being with thousands of J.W. at conventions where I have seen the bible at work in peoples lives.It is truly a miracle when you see thousands of people meeting together and not one policeman needed, and not even a piece of litter in sight.It is like another world.

Question
I have married into a family now for a few years and a few of the family members are witnesses. I have a child of my own now and was given a gift for Kids Day. I guess I am just wondering if this is truly something that witnesses celebrate or if it is just something that the family finds acceptable to celebrate during the holiday season? Everyone is very hush hush about the subject because my side of the family mainly comes from a Baptist church. I am very afraid to talk about this subject with them and I am just very curious. Just to let you know I am not biased, I just feel that I should be educated about what they believe since I am now part of the family. Thank you for your time.

HI there Karla, No we dont have a celebration called "kids day" its just because we dont give gifts at Christmas etc, we like to do it at other times.
Some Witnesses will give gifts before or after Christmas,my 4 were spoiled because I used to give them gifts before xmas, then my husband who is not a a one of JW, gave them at Christmas, so they had 2 lots of gifts :¬)
Dont be afraid to talk about the subject, Im sure they would welcome any questions & answer them respectfully.
