About Brenda Martin
Expertise
I have been one of Jehovah`s Witneses now for over 30 years, in those years I have brought up 4 children, teaching each of them the bible.Being one of Jehovah`s Witnesses has helped me cope with my Epilepsy and bring up a daughter with learning difficulties.I have conducted bible studies with people from nearly every denomination i.e. Muslim. Having used the bible all these years to answer peoples questions, I feel I am qualified to give any answer regarding Jehovah`s Witnesses and the bible.

Experience
My experience has been one of attending bible lectures 5 times a week, taking part in these lectures in front of an audience and being with thousands of J.W. at conventions where I have seen the bible at work in peoples lives. It is truly a miracle when you see thousands of people meeting together and not one policeman needed, and not even a piece of litter in sight. It is like another world.

Question
QUESTION: Rev 1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and who was, and is to come, The Almighty. Is this not God speaking.

Rev 21:5-7  He who sits on the throne  said, "I am making every thing new." .......I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.......Again is this not God

Rev 22:13  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the  last, the beginning and the end. I think this is God also

Rev 1:17-18 and Rev 2:8 It says and when I saw Him, I fell ate His feet as thought dead. Then He placed His right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and he Last". I am the living one; I WAS DEAD, and behold I am alive for ever and for ever . And I hold the keys of death and hades.
[V2:8] " And the angel of the congregation in Smyrna write: These are the things that he says "The first and the last, who became dead and came to life [again]

I do not understand when did God die.

ANSWER: HI Lawrence, you asked--“REV 1:8  IS THIS NOT GOD SPEAKING ?

Yes--This is the first of three times in Revelation that Jehovah himself speaks from heaven. (See also Revelation 21:5-8; 22:12-15.)

REV 1:17-18 AND REV 2:8 I WAS DEAD, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN DID GOD DIE?

The first verse of Revelation shows that the revelation was given originally by God and through Jesus Christ, hence the one speaking (through an angelic representative) at times is God himself, and at other times it is Christ Jesus.

When Jesus presents himself by the title “the First and the Last,” he is using a title properly bestowed on him by God. Jesus is calling attention to his unique resurrection.

Jesus was indeed “the First” human to be resurrected to immortal spirit life. (Colossians 1:18) Moreover, he is “the Last” to be so resurrected by Jehovah personally. Thus, he becomes “the living one . . . living forever and ever.” He enjoys immortality. In this, he is like his immortal Father, who is called “the living God.” (Revelation 7:2; Psalm 42:2) For all others of humanity, Jesus himself is “the resurrection and the life.” (John 11:25) In harmony with this, he says to John: “I became dead, but, look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.” (Revelation 1:18b) Jehovah has given him the authority to resurrect the dead. That is why Jesus can say that he has the keys to unlock the gates for those bound by death and Hades (gravedom).— ” Matthew 16:18

Revelation 2:8) Jesus reminds them that he was the first integrity keeper that Jehovah directly resurrected to immortal spirit life and the last to be so raised.

God didn’t die, but Jesus did :¬)

All the best

QUESTION: In Isa 40:3 It says prepare the way Of the Lord; Make straight the desert a highway for our God [Ref: Mal 3:1; Mt 3:3; Mk 1:1-9;Lk 3:4-6; Jn 1:23-26]
The hebrew word "Lord" in this verse is the one from which "Jehovah" is derived, and translated "Jehovah" in the N.W.T. the word Lord is 3068 in the sronges concordance which says " The proper name of the one true God [Lord Yahweh]
From the Ref above this  verse is commonly accepted prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ, as announced by Jophn the Baptist.

Here is my question in the N.W.T. You state that this is Jehovah. But looking at Mk 1: 1-9 {V1} The good news about JESUS CHRIST {2} written in Isa {3} Make the way for Jehovah Verse one states that this is the good news about Jesus {4} repentance {5}baptized {6} John dress {7} not fit to stoop and untie His sandals {8} baptise with fire {9} address as Jesus

In verse 3 you call Him Jehovah and in verse 9 you call him Jesus
Which one is He

Answer
ISA 40:3 “ PREPARE THE WAY OF THE LORD?

John 1:23 quotes Isaiah 40:3 and applies it to what John the Baptizer did in preparing the way for Jesus Christ, Isaiah 40:3 is clearly discussing preparing the way before Jehovah. Why? Because Jesus represented his Father. He came in his Father’s name and had the assurance that his Father was always with him because he did the things pleasing to his Father.—John 5:43; 8:29.

MK 1: 1-9 --IN VERSE 3 YOU CALL HIM JEHOVAH AND IN VERSE 9 YOU CALL HIM JESUS

Same reason-- Because Jesus represented his Father. He came in his Father’s name.

Thanks
Brenda
