Why the great city is divided into three parts, before Babylon the Great(which is the great city in Rev17,18) comes in remembrance before God to judge her?

Which is are the cities of the nations?

16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

Why does it reads "where our Lord was crucified"? How is the prophecy talking about a place where our Lord was crucified since the great city symbol is not a particular literal city? (Many interpret 11:8 to refer in Jerusalem whore)

11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

ANSWER: Hello mate

Thanks for writing again.

What needs to be remembered is Revelation is a highly symbolic book.

This is also a symbolic event.

In other places in the Bible it is spoke of things being split when Jehovah destroys them here's a scripture in Micah

1: 4 "And the mountains must melt under him, and the low plains themselves will SPLIT apart, like wax because of the fire, like waters being poured down a steep place"

So in Revelation 16 we see a symbolic earthquake

Rev 16:

17 "and a great earthquake occurred such as had not occurred since men came to be on the earth, so extensive an earthquake, so great"

That it splits Babylon the great into "three parts". Split into three denoting "intense/extreme or even unredeemable destruction"

Not only that but all the "cities of the nations" fall this is symbolic of Satan's world that looks so secure collapsing.

Zeph 1:

16 "a day of horn and of alarm signal, against the fortified cities and against the high corner towers"

The whole account is symbolic of collapse and destruction

Rev 11:

8 "And when they have finished their witnessing, the wild beast that ascends out of the abyss will make war with them and conquer them and kill them. And their corpses will be on the broad way of the great city which is in a spiritual sense called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was also impaled"

The verse itself tells you it carries a spiritual meaning Jesus was of course was impaled in Jerusalem, but Sodom means a defiled Jerusalem

Isaiah 1:

9 "Unless Jehovah of armies himself had left remaining to us just a few survivors, we should have become just like Sod′om, we should have resembled Go·mor′rah itself.
10 Hear the word of Jehovah, YOU dictators of Sod′om"

and Egypt means it's part of Satan's system of things

Isaiah 19:

19 "In that day there will prove to be an altar to Jehovah in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to Jehovah beside its boundary"

So it's symbolic of a corrupt nation claiming to serve God. It symbolizes Christendom.

Now hopefully you can see after looking at the evidence how Babylon the great can't be the city of Jerusalem a city less than a mile square that doesn't even ride on the back of the wild beast but half of it fights against it.

QUESTION: Thanks. Two other questions I thought.

1)Why is "she and the kings of the world" instead of "the whores and the kings of the world"?  Suggestion : is singular used to point Babylon's pre-eminent role as the first fornicator?

2)The opposite of Babylon the Great whore is virgin "New Jerusalem". Does this name suggests that an "old" virgin became whore and was rejected? So, is it possible that Revelation focuses also on old Jerusalem's destruction and Babylon the Great symbol hides two realities? First reality = unfaithful Jerusalem, second reality = the whole false religious system. As you I have read and as you teach in some WT articles, Jesus prophecies were twofold. About judgement against literal Jerusalem(66-70a.d 42months) and judgement against the whole false religion world.

Take care, have a good day

Hello again

Thanks for writing

<<<<<<<<<<<1)Why is "she and the kings of the world" instead of "the whores and the kings of the world"?  Suggestion : is singular used to point Babylon's pre-eminent role as the first fornicator?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Because Babylon the great is ALL the false worshippers throughout history that is why the singular is used. There is only one

<<<<<<<2)The opposite of Babylon the Great whore is virgin "New Jerusalem". Does this name suggests that an "old" virgin became whore and was rejected?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Well technically you could say yes. Because Cain is the first member of Babylon the great he would have been a worshipper of Jehovah originally and turned bad. But of course there's always just been claimed worshippers of God who in reality never worshipped Jehovah and of course those who turned apostate all those would have been virgins and the defected.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<So, is it possible that Revelation focuses also on old Jerusalem's destruction and Babylon the Great symbol hides two realities?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Revelation is a book of prophecy not of history. We have these words here right at the beginning.

Rev 1 "A revelation by Jesus Christ, which God gave him, to show his slaves the things that must shortly take place"

All these things happen after the Roman empire

Rev 17: 10 And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet arrived, but when he does arrive he must remain a short while. 11 And the wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eighth [king], but springs from the seven, and it goes off into destruction"

You're suggestion only is the case if where looking at a historical prophecy one that has already taken place to us, where we are in the stream of time.

Revelation is the only book in the Bible that focuses SOLELY on the last day prophecies.

Now of course I'm not saying that the apostate Jews weren't part of Babylon the great or the Egyptians or those from Tyre or any other false worshipper. But Babylon the Great spoken in Revelation is every single one of these put together. Her sins are counted up and she is dealt with accordingly.

A bit like if a man goes on a crime spree when he get's caught all his crimes are added to together for his punishment. That's what it's similar too.

I have many years of experience serving Jehovah . I have known Jehovah a long time and I have known his organization . I have been privileged to see great progress not only in my own personal relationship with my God and Father but within his organization. I am an avid reader of the bible and have been gifted by my Father with the indescribable privilege of being allowed to understand his own word.

The truth is all about scripture and logic. The two go hand in hand . There is not one bible verse that cannot be understood within the realms of human reasoning. Not one!! Why would it?? The bible is God's message to his creation . His creation who he made to understand things in a specific way. God is not stupid or unwise as to leave as a message then allow us to guess what it means or who he is. 1 Tim 2:3This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, 4whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth" Notice the expression "accurate knowledge".

The bible leaves signs of true christianity there are many. Jehovah's witnesses meet every single sign. One sign is the removal of false teachings that permeated the world soon after the apostles died. Jesus foretold this and he also foretold of the restoration of pure worship in the period known as the last days. The days we are currently living in. Jesus was a master of using illustrations he used an illustration to highlight this point Matt 13: "The Kingdom of the heavens may be likened to a man who sowed fine seed in his field. 25While men were sleeping, his enemy came and oversowed weeds in among the wheat and left. 26When the stalk sprouted and produced fruit, then the weeds also appeared. 27So the slaves of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow fine seed in your field? How, then, does it have weeds?’ 28He said to them, ‘An enemy, a man, did this.’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go out and collect them?’ 29He said, ‘No, for fear that while collecting the weeds, you uproot the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest season, I will tell the reapers: First collect the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them up; then gather the wheat into my storehouse" Why did he speak in illustrations? Matt 13:10So the disciples came and said to him: “Why do you speak to them by the use of illustrations?” 11In reply he said: “To you it is granted to understand the sacred secrets of the Kingdom of the heavens, but to them it is not granted" The kingdom of the heavens is full of sacred secrets that Jesus reveals only to his followers. This privilege is open to all who are really willing to submit to God and his Christ in action not just in words. These are the ones God is looking for. Are you really one?? If so I encourage you to let Jehovah's witnesses show you what the Bible really teaches.

False religion is disgusting to God and to his true worshippers it is likened in the Bible to a harlot Rev 17:"I will show you the judgment upon the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, whereas those who inhabit the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication" Whereas the bride of Christ is likened to a virgin Rev 14: 4"These are the ones who did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins" These are both used as spiritual terms here and show the importance of pure and clean worship for God's people.
