Question
QUESTION: hai DW

Jesus is said to be "SITTING" at God's right hand. So that means, he's going to "WAIT" right? In Acts 7:55, stephen saw Jesus "STANDING" in the right hand of God! So is it really referring to 1914? I mean does it have to do about with Michael STANDING UP/STAND UP that was recorded at Daniel 12:1 ??? I mean, what do you mean by (1 Corinthians 15:25) For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. ??? JW's said that DEATH is the last enemy, So did JEsus conquered it already in 1914? I don't think so

CAN YOU PLEASE CLARIFY THINGS FOR ME? Thanks

Dave

ANSWER: Hello Dave

Thanks for writing

This is the general idea. Now I'm not talking about in every single instance in the scriptures but when we're talking about this subject then these are the rules:

To sit means to wait that's correct. To stand means to take action as a King or to rule as a King after Jesus went to heaven he sat and waited until the time he was ready to become King here's a scripture:

Psalms 110:

110 The utterance of Jehovah to my Lord is:
"Sit at my right hand
Until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.”
2 The rod of your strength Jehovah will send out of Zion, [saying:]
"Go subduing in the midst of your enemies"

Heb 10:

12 "But this [man] offered one sacrifice for sins perpetually and sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from then on awaiting until his enemies should be placed as a stool for his feet"

So he waits until his enemies are ready to be subdued. Then he goes subduing his enemies. He can't be sitting and be subduing his enemies at the same time can he??

Now when we come to this scripture

1 Cor 15:

25 "For he must rule as king until [God] has put all enemies under his feet 26 As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing"

This is talking about the last enemy being destroyed or crushed/put/subdued under foot, just like here.

Rom 16:

20 "For his part, the God who gives peace will crush Satan under YOUR feet shortly"

So one IS READY to be crushed/subdued the other IS crushed/subdued.

We see Jesus has many enemies.

When we see Michael stand up here

Dan 12:

12 "And during that time Mi′cha·el will stand up, the great prince who is standing"

We notice he is already standing.

Standing = Ruling as King.

Stand up = Taking action as King.

So Jesus sit's at his Fathers right hand waiting until his enemies are ready to be crushed/subdued(footstool PS 110:1,2) then at that time he begins standing/ruling (Dan 12)as King and he stands up/takes action (Dan 12:10)until all enemies are crushed/subdued(put under his feet 1 Cor 15:25,26)Then he hands everything back to Jehovah(1 Cor 15:28)

So to recap

1)He can't be sitting and subduing at the same time

2)One IS READY TO SUBDUE the other IS subdued

3)He can't hand back to his Father until ALL his enemies are crushed

QUESTION: So what had stephen just saw at Acts 7:55 actually happened in 1914? or is it still to come? I mean: “For he must rule as king "UNTIL" [God] has put all enemies under his feet”???

That means, he's reigning, while still SITTING/WAITING??? :-) I mean, if Acts 7:55(where Jesus had seen as "STANDING" in the right hand of GOD) is referring to 1914, then, he's NOT SITTING/WAITING at all because it says he's <"STANDING" at the right hand of God> already!!! Unless if I just don't get your point that Psalms 110:1-2 is pointing to an another "ENEMY" aside from that "ENEMY" as stated there at 1 Corinthians 15:25-26!!! :-) ...I just wanted to clarify things here DW!!!

Thanks

Answer
Hello again

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<So what had stephen just saw at Acts 7:55 actually happened in 1914?>>>>>>>>>>

There's two ways to look at this.

1)When Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God he saw it as a future vision regarding 1914.

2)The word standing in Acts 7:55 isn't referring to Jesus kingship, he saw a vision of him literally standing there.

The word standing doesn't have to mean ruling as King. It can mean literally standing. Just the same as the word fig tree here:

Matt 24:

32 “Now learn from the fig tree as an illustration"

doesn't have to symbolize the Jewish nation like it does here

Matt 21:

19 "And he caught sight of a fig tree by the road and went to it, but he found nothing on it except leaves only, and he said to it: “Let no fruit come from you anymore forever.” And the fig tree withered instantly"

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<or is it still to come? I mean: “For he must rule as king "UNTIL" [God] has put all enemies under his feet”???>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yes since 1914 Jesus has been standing as King and he remains standing until all his enemies have been destroyed.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<That means, he's reigning, while still SITTING/WAITING??? :-) I mean, if Acts 7:55(where Jesus had seen as "STANDING" in the right hand of GOD) is referring to 1914, then, he's NOT SITTING/WAITING at all because it says he's <"STANDING" at the right hand of God> already!!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Reading the two answers above will answer this question for you.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Unless if I just don't get your point that Psalms 110:1-2 is pointing to an another "ENEMY" aside from that "ENEMY" as stated there at 1 Corinthians 15:25-26!!! :-) ...I just wanted to clarify things here DW!!!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Yes he rules as king until his enemies are destroyed.

Let's recap

1)Stephen's vision could have been:

a)A vision of Jesus in 1914

b)He saw Jesus literally standing up

2)Standing doesn't have to mean symbolically standing it can mean literally standing

3)We need to forget all about Stephen's vision when discussing this subject it's not relevant

4)Jesus went to heaven sat and waited then he stood up in 1914 and will stay standing until death is vanquished.

5) Jesus is standing RIGHT NOW!!

Expertise

I have many years of experience serving Jehovah . I have known Jehovah a long time and I have known his organization . I have been privileged to see great progress not only in my own personal relationship with my God and Father but within his organization. I am an avid reader of the bible and have been gifted by my Father with the indescribable privilege of being allowed to understand his own word.

Experience

The truth is all about scripture and logic. The two go hand in hand . There is not one bible verse that cannot be understood within the realms of human reasoning. Not one!! Why would it?? The bible is God's message to his creation . His creation who he made to understand things in a specific way. God is not stupid or unwise as to leave as a message then allow us to guess what it means or who he is. 1 Tim 2:3This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, 4whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth" Notice the expression "accurate knowledge".

Organizations
The bible leaves signs of true christianity there are many. Jehovah's witnesses meet every single sign. One sign is the removal of false teachings that permeated the world soon after the apostles died. Jesus foretold this and he also foretold of the restoration of pure worship in the period known as the last days. The days we are currently living in. Jesus was a master of using illustrations he used an illustration to highlight this point Matt 13: "The Kingdom of the heavens may be likened to a man who sowed fine seed in his field. 25While men were sleeping, his enemy came and oversowed weeds in among the wheat and left. 26When the stalk sprouted and produced fruit, then the weeds also appeared. 27So the slaves of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow fine seed in your field? How, then, does it have weeds?’ 28He said to them, ‘An enemy, a man, did this.’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go out and collect them?’ 29He said, ‘No, for fear that while collecting the weeds, you uproot the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest season, I will tell the reapers: First collect the weeds and bind them in bundles to burn them up; then gather the wheat into my storehouse" Why did he speak in illustrations? Matt 13:10So the disciples came and said to him: “Why do you speak to them by the use of illustrations?” 11In reply he said: “To you it is granted to understand the sacred secrets of the Kingdom of the heavens, but to them it is not granted" The kingdom of the heavens is full of sacred secrets that Jesus reveals only to his followers. This privilege is open to all who are really willing to submit to God and his Christ in action not just in words. These are the ones God is looking for. Are you really one?? If so I encourage you to let Jehovah's witnesses show you what the Bible really teaches.

Education/Credentials
False religion is disgusting to God and to his true worshippers it is likened in the Bible to a harlot Rev 17:"I will show you the judgment upon the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, whereas those who inhabit the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication" Whereas the bride of Christ is likened to a virgin Rev 14: 4"These are the ones who did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins" These are both used as spiritual terms here and show the importance of pure and clean worship for God's people.
