Jehovah`s Witness/Name Of God

Question
Hi Eddie.

"f Jehovah is NOT the commonly KNOWN name of the Most High God, then why did the KJB (1611/1769) used it?"

You're getting confused. I never said the name Jehovah wasn't used, or that we shouldn't use it. I'm not doubting anything about THE NAME. What I am saying is that there is no Scripture that commands me to use that name ONLY. There is nothing that states that using any other name to identify God is wrong (other than an obviously blasphemous one).

"Are these commands NOT from Jehovah God Himself?
If you say no, again by whose authority and by whose command are you following to say otherwise?"

I say "no". You did not list any Scriptural COMMANDS. Do you know what a command is? It means it SHALL be done. Another word for it is DEMAND. Those verses do not DEMAND that I refer to God as Jehovah ONLY, to the exclusion of any other name.

Ex 6:2-3 (NWT) - And God* went on to speak to Moses and to say to him: “I am Jehovah.+ 3  And I used to appear to Abraham,+ Isaac+ and Jacob+ as God Almighty,*+ but as respects my name Jehovah*+ I did not make myself known+ to them.

So what did they call Him? He didn't make His name known, so obviously He was okay with them calling Him whatever they called Him. Now don't come back and say that after He made His name known..., because as I said, there are no Scriptures that COMMAND (DEMAND) that I use the name Jehovah ONLY.

"In addition you said so yourself "these scholars of old got everything else right", are they wrong in these instance then?"

Since I already answered this, I don't need to repeat myself. But, you didn't answer me. How is it that your bible and my Bible are almost word-for-word, except for the parts that don't support your church's teachings? Isn't it odd that they were smart enough to get everything else right, but they just happened to get tripped up on all the areas that relate to your church's teachings?

"As for the websites you're recommending me to looked at, sorry, IT'S NO ONE ELSE IS CHOICE BUT MINE. I choose not to pollute my mind with apostate and satanic teachings - pretending to be 'light'."

That's a cheap way of getting out of doing research, and it further proves that you only read what your church approves, and that you will remain blinded by false teachings if you're not strong enough of will to question your church (If you like, I can provide you a list of all the prophecies or "predictions" as your church has come to say after they all failed to fulfill). As far as "satanic teachings" goes, I could've just dismissed everything you've told me coming from your church as satanic, but I did research before I made that determination (half a joke there, but ONLY half).

"he Divine Name King James Bible is

the unrevised 1769 edition of the Authorized King James Version
with the wonderful restoration of God's personal and unique name Jehovah in over 6970 rightful places. </i>"

That's very interesting, and thank you for bringing that to my attention. I might be obliged to start reading that Bible. BUT, you still have yet to show me where Scripture says I cannot call God by ANY OTHER NAME but Jehovah.

Hi Ron,

You said:

"You're getting confused. I never said the name Jehovah wasn't used, or that we shouldn't use it. I'm not doubting anything about THE NAME. What I am saying is that there is no Scripture that commands me to use that name ONLY. No Ron, you're the one who said you have a 'close an personal relationship with HIM'. But what I'm saying is how could you if you don't even addressed HIM by His name? How can you be close to God if you ONLY address HIM by TITLE - such LORD, FATHER, God?

IMPOSSIBLE. Otherwise this Scripture will not mean anything to you.

“. . .Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. . .” (Matthew 6:9)

As for your illustration about your fleshly father, you've known him since birth and he knew you even before you were born.  So both of you have a close relationship with each other. But how do you introduce your father to everyone? How can you be proud of him if you only address him as father?

You can't, you must use his name.

BUT Jehovah, can't be compared to a human father because He is as the scripture say:

".... JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth." (Psa 83:18 KJV)

As for this:

===
"Ex 6:2-3 (NWT) - And God* went on to speak to Moses and to say to him: “I am Jehovah.+ 3  And I used to appear to Abraham,+ Isaac+ and Jacob+ as God Almighty,*+ but as respects my name Jehovah*+ I did not make myself known+ to them.

===

Again, you're wrong Ron, the expression "I did not make myself known+ to them." doesn't mean that Moses or the Israelites who are slaves in Egypt DID NOT KNOW God's name. No, they KNEW his name as evidence by the fact that Moses' mother's name Jochebed means - Jehovah is glory.

As the Scripture tells us:

“Now Am′ram took Joch′e·bed his father’s sister as his wife. Later she bore him Aaron and Moses. And the years of Am′ram’s life were a hundred and thirty-seven years.” (Exodus 6:20)

In addition the Israelites also KNEW who Abraham's, Isaac's and Jacob's God was - Jehovah. So they knew God's name.

But this time around that name - Jehovah - will take on a new meaning - being the Savior of Israel in order to fulfill his promise to Abraham.

Thus the expression "I did not make myself known+ to them." means that this time, through him - through Moses - the Israelites WILL COME TO KNOW who Jehovah really is! The fulfiller of promises - as they will be about to be freed from slavery and bondage in Egypt.

As the Scripture tells us:

“and I shall make a great nation out of you and I shall bless you and I will make your name great; and prove yourself a blessing. 3 And I will bless those who bless you, and him that calls down evil upon you I shall curse, and all the families of the ground will certainly bless themselves by means of you.”” (Genesis 12:2, 3)

“. . .Now, look! I am going today in the way of all the earth, and YOU well know with all YOUR hearts and with all YOUR souls that not one word out of all the good words that Jehovah YOUR God has spoken to YOU has failed. They have all come true for YOU. Not one word of them has failed. 15 And it must occur that, just as all the good word that Jehovah YOUR God has spoken to YOU has come upon YOU, so Jehovah will bring upon YOU all the evil word until he has annihilated YOU from off this good ground that Jehovah YOUR God has given YOU, 16 because of YOUR overstepping the covenant of Jehovah YOUR God that he commanded YOU, and because YOU have gone and served other gods and bowed down to them. And Jehovah’s anger will certainly blaze against YOU, and YOU will certainly perish in a hurry from off the good land that he has given YOU.”” (Joshua 23:14-16)

As for the websites you're recommending me to read, like I said, they are just a waste of time. Not only that, they are not upbuilding but tearing down. Why would I waste my time on them? Besides been there and done that. I know already what they are for and what they are saying and you're just wasting your time repeating them to me.
