Answer
Hello.  So sorry for the delay in getting you an answer.

Your question was...."How do Jehovahs witnesses view scientology as a religion"

The answer to this question is exactly the same as it would be if you placed ANY other religious group in the sentence, be it Baptist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Methodist, Scientology, Church of Christ, etc.  Jehovah's Witnesses view ALL OTHER religious denominations besides themselves as part of "Babylon the Great", or the false religious system that is going to be destroyed by Jehovah God.

In other words, they feel they are the ONLY religion that God has any part of, that their Organization is led and directed by God Himself, and that no one else is a true Christian, unless they belong to the Watchtower Society.

Also, I might add that the important thing when deciding on a religion, is not what someone thinks of it, or even whether the individual likes it, or feels comfortable with it.  God has given us His Word, the Bible, and this is the standard by which we must discern God's will and His truth.  Many pick a certain religion because they "like it", or feel accepted.  But our primary concern should be TRUTH.

Its teachings must line up with the Bible, especially in the areas of the person of Jesus Christ, and the plan of salvation.  According to God's inspired Word, Jesus Christ is the eternally begotten Son of God, and is fully God in the flesh (John 1:1, John 3:16, John 20:28).  He is not the Father, nor is He the Holy Spirit.  His role in the Trinity is that of the Son.

He became a perfect man, while being "God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16).  He willingly went to the cross and shed His blood, as the payment for our sin debt.  We are saved when we trust in His sacrifice alone, and our own personal works cannot effect our salvation, though we ARE called unto good works after we are saved (Eph. 2:8-10, Titus 3:5-8).

Before joining ANY religion, I would make sure to know what they taught about the Person of Jesus Christ, and that they preached the true Biblical Gospel.....Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection from the grave in BODILY form (1 Cor. 15:1-4).

ANY religion that preaches a different gospel than this one given in the Bible, falls under the curse of Galatians 1:6-9.

That would be the answer from the perspective of Biblical Christianity.  From the JW perspective, as I told you earlier, they believe they are the only group that has "the truth".  In fact, that is one of their favorite nicknames for their religion...."the truth".  In their minds, all others are false.

I hope this answer has helped, and again, sorry to be so long in answering.  If I can help you in any way with any more questions, please ask.

Take care, and have a great day.

Expertise

I was raised in the religion known as Jehovah`s Witnesses for 13 years. Since becoming a born-again Christian, I have researched extensively this religion, especially their doctrines and their history. I can answer questions about their doctrines from the perspective of Biblical Christianity. To be clear: Jehovahs Witnesses is the religion of my upbringing, though I myself was never baptized into the religion, nor have I ever been considered as a Jehovahs Witness.

Experience

23 years of Biblical research into the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith, and how they differ from the teachings of the Watchtower.

Education/Credentials
High School, some college. Studies of God's Word, the Bible, and how it compares to JW theology. I have found my own personal study and experiences to be far more valuable than any formal education or training. The Bible message is clear...Salvation is ONLY through and by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and no religious organization has a thing to do with it. While attendance at a Bible-preaching, Bible-believing church is a must for spiritual growth and fellowship, no church can grant salvation to its members. Nor is joining a particular group a prerequisite for being saved.
