About Brenda Martin
Expertise
I have been one of Jehovah`s Witneses now for over 30 years, in those years I have brought up 4 children, teaching each of them the bible.Being one of Jehovah`s Witnesses has helped me cope with my Epilepsy and bring up a daughter with learning difficulties.I have conducted bible studies with people from nearly every denomination i.e. Muslim. Having used the bible all these years to answer peoples questions, I feel I am qualified to give any answer regarding Jehovah`s Witnesses and the bible.

Experience
My experience has been one of attending bible lectures 5 times a week, taking part in these lectures in front of an audience and being with thousands of J.W. at conventions where I have seen the bible at work in peoples lives. It is truly a miracle when you see thousands of people meeting together and not one policeman needed, and not even a piece of litter in sight. It is like another world.

Follow-Ups to Answer from Expert Brenda Martin

What do I get from Brenda's answer?

1. The ancient Jews followed pagan practises of human and animal sacrifice, which then became the basis for their god-sacrifice atonement theory.
2. Jesus did not speak out against ritual animal slaughter, slavery, and other attrocities during his ministry.
3. The bible proposes a weird sort of specieism, making animals subject to prejudice.
4. More scripture verses can be gleaned for cruelty to animals than can be for their protection (anyone can cherry-pick the bible!).
5. If God created heaven and hell and sin originated in (supposedly perfect) heaven, then God created sin. Adam and Eve, who had no knowledge of good and evil, were pitted against all the powers of evil and then punished for failing to resist. If Christ is God, then God's self-sacrifice is an atonement for his own blunder. Somehow, humans are supposed to accept this enforced salvation for something they had no design in.
6. In choosing a bloodthirsty semitic tribe as his "chosen" people, God is inherently racist. If he created all mankind, why choose one of the most morally challenged groups on the planet for your representatives?
7. God violates his own commandment, "Thou shalt not kill", and causes others to violate it in his name.
8. Throughout the OT, God often asks for the ritual slaughter of children, in some instances telling his marauding horde to save the virgin girls for themselves. In the same passage used by fundementalists to damn homosexuals, God asks his people to stone their stubborn children, sleep with their brother's widow, kill any non-virgins discovered at marriage, and a whole host of despicable things.
