Wilma, my wife is a Jehovah[s Witness and I am not. I appreciate Derrick's view as much as Janko's. Your personal opinion is your own defensive measure. According to the governing body, Jehovah;'s Witnesses are not allowed in this type of forum.

You said you do not mislead anyone. Well, what about this one:

"The JW belief about the Bible is that it is the Word of God.  It should be mentioned, however, that they have produced their own translation of the Bible, in which many verses have been changed to support their beliefs.  It is called the NEW WORLD TRANSLATION, and it is the one that they believe in." Would you please read the answers regarding John 1:1 I gave to Russ and Luis and tell me if Jesus is God. Have we changed the translation of John? Are there any other translation that renders the verses found in NWT the same way we do? If so, are those translators trying to support their beliefs when they don't have the same belief as we do? The NWT appeared in 1960, you said we believe only in our translation of the Bible. JW as we are known today goes back to the 19th century. So what Bible did we believe in if the NWT appeared nearly 100 years later? Regarding Jesus being put to death in a cross, I have right here in front of me a book of W. E. Vine EXPOSITORY DICTIONARY OF NT WORDS which says "STAUROS (cross, crucify) denotes, primarily, an upright pale or stake. On such malefactors were nailed for execution. Both the noun and the verb stauroo, to fasten to a stake or pale, are originally to be distinguished from the ecclesiastical form of a two beamed cross. The shape of the latter had its origin in ancient Chaldea, and was used as the symbol of the god Tammuz (being in the shape of the mystical Tau, the initial of his name) in that country and in adjacent lands, including Egypt" (quote from page 256). This book is not produced by Watchtower, actually is printed by Oliphants LTD 1940. Quite before the NWT, don't you think? Is W E Vine (non-JW)wrong in his information? Also, have the Holy Bible AMERICAN STANDARD VERSION been changed in some verses when translated by the American Revision Commitee in 1901?( I am looking at it now and it is not a Bible translated by JW) That's a good half century before the NWT came along. Were they trying to support some belief of their own as well? that's it for now.

Thank you

very much for your enlightment in this matters.

Sandro"

Expertise

I was raised in the religion known as Jehovah`s Witnesses for 13 years. Since becoming a born-again Christian, I have researched extensively this religion, especially their doctrines and their history. I can answer questions about their doctrines from the perspective of Biblical Christianity. To be clear: Jehovahs Witnesses is the religion of my upbringing, though I myself was never baptized into the religion, nor have I ever been considered as a Jehovahs Witness.

Experience

23 years of Biblical research into the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith, and how they differ from the teachings of the Watchtower.

Education/Credentials
High School, some college. Studies of God's Word, the Bible, and how it compares to JW theology. I have found my own personal study and experiences to be far more valuable than any formal education or training. The Bible message is clear...Salvation is ONLY through and by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and no religious organization has a thing to do with it. While attendance at a Bible-preaching, Bible-believing church is a must for spiritual growth and fellowship, no church can grant salvation to its members. Nor is joining a particular group a prerequisite for being saved.
