About Derrick Holland
Expertise
I was raised in the religion known as Jehovah`s Witnesses for 13 years. Since becoming a born-again Christian, I have researched extensively this religion, especially their doctrines and their history. I can answer questions about their doctrines from the perspective of Biblical Christianity.

Experience
23 years of Biblical research into the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith, and how they differ from the teachings of the Watchtower.

Question
Dear Derrick

I found your article on the JW very helpful!  There is another false doctrine on the web witch is currently deceiving a lot of people.  The person states that he is Christ incarnated and just like the Jehovah witnesses that Christ (the spirit) is also Angel Micheal and Melchizedek ect, and is currently in a body called JAH.
Would you please take a look at their website and give me your oppinion on the subject or re-direct it too someone who  can help uncover this false-christ!  http://jahtruth.co.uk/index.htm
He does'nt deny Jesus but also states that he is Elijah (and Christ).  All the tipical scriptures usually qouted to show that Jesus Christ will come back just as he left, this person uses to show that he is Christ.  Please help me if you can! Thank you so much!

Answer
Hello Maryanne.  Please allow me to first apologize for the unusually long delay in answering your question.  I have been working practically around the clock, preparing for vacation later this week, and I haven't had time to check my e-mail for days.  Sorry about that.

I went to the web site you referred me to, and read some of the stuff on it.  Despite the Biblical warnings given, it is sad that so many people still become deceived by stuff like this.  If people only read the Bible, and believed what it says, they wouldn't fall for a "false Christ" like this.

Although I didn't read every single article on this site, I did read enough to make me think that this person isn't very credible, and that they probably don't have a very large following.  If they do, then that is a sad commentary on people's unwillingness to follow the true Christ of the Bible.  I mean, some of the things on this site are just plain ridiculous....that the Koran is the Word of God alongside the Bible, that the New Jerusalem is actually a spaceship, that Jesus was reborn in Sheffield, England in 1948, etc.  It is hard to imagine anyone actually falling for that.

Just simply ask yourself this question....Where does the Bible teach any of this?  One of the sure marks of a cult, is when they tell you that ONLY THEY have the true interpretation of the Scripture, and that your life depends on following what they teach.  And they always have some other books and publications which, they tell you, are necessary for understanding the Bible, and without which you are doomed.  This is a sure sign of a cult.

Thankfully, there are a few quick and easy ways to determine a false "christ".  Jesus gave us a warning about them, and told us they would be around....

Matthew 24:23-26...."Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there;  BELIEVE IT NOT.  For there shall arise false Christ's, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  Behold, I have told you before.  Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, He is in the desert (or in England); go not forth:  Behold, He is in the secret chambers; believe it not."

So, Jesus Himself warned us these people would be around.  He told us not to believe them.  But how can we know WHAT to believe, or HOW to recognize the true Christ?  Well, the Word of God gives us a few things that will happen WHEN Christ returns again.

First Thessalonians 4:13-18 tell us some very definite things that are going to happen at the very moment of Christ's return.  Verse 16 tells us that the Lord will descend FROM HEAVEN, not be reborn in England.

At this moment, there will be a bodily resurrection of all those whom have died in Christ.  Has this happened yet?  If not, then Christ has not returned yet.

Also, just moments after the resurrection, those righteous saints who are still living will be "caught up" together "with them in the clouds", to meet the Lord in the air.  Has this great event happened yet?  If not, then Christ has not returned.

2 Thessalonians 2:1 again refers to "our gathering unto Him", at the moment of His coming.  Verse 2 warns us to not "be shaken in mind, or troubled" when some teach that Christ had already returned.

1 Thessalonians 2:19 tells us plainly that, at the coming of Christ, we will be in His presence.  Since this has not happened yet, we can conclude that Christ has not returned, and this person claiming to be Christ is a "false christ" and a liar.

We have these clear statements from God's Word, and these statements should be our guide when ANY group of people claim that Christ has returned.  JWs claim that Christ "returned" in 1914.  Well, did ANY of these signs happen in 1914.  Did any of these things that the Bible tells us to watch for, take place?  No.

So, while we should be anxiously be awaiting the coming of Christ Jesus, and living our lives like He will come today, we should not ever allow anyone to tell us that He has returned already, because we have been told by God's Word what will happen when He does.  The Bible doesn't need to be improved upon, or "revealed" to us by some cult group.  It is fine just the way it is.

Another thing worth mentioning, regarding this guys claim that Christ was reborn in England, is a verse found in Acts 1:11....

"Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?  THIS SAME JESUS, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come IN LIKE MANNER as ye have seen Him go into heaven."

Notice the phrase "THIS SAME JESUS".  This completely rules out the teaching on this web site that Jesus was "reborn in another English body".  Jesus isn't going to be re-born, PERIOD!!  He is coming in the same physical body He went back into heaven with.  It won't be another Jesus re-incarnated, but the SAME JESUS.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about this person's claims.  You can safely say that they are a "false christ" and a deceiver.

I hope this answer has been helpful.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to write.  My name will be off the Allexperts list until Monday, July 10th, due to my vacation.  But I will be back then, so feel free to write if you would like any more information.

Take care, and God bless.

Derrick
