AboutBrenda Martin Expertise I have been one of Jehovah`s Witneses now for over 30 years, in those years I have brought up 4 children, teaching each of them the bible.Being one of Jehovah`s Witnesses has helped me cope with my Epilepsy and bring up a daughter with learning difficulties.I have conducted bible studies with people from nearly every denomination i.e. Muslim. Having used the bible all these years to answer peoples questions, I feel I am qualified to give any answer regarding Jehovah`s Witnesses and the bible.
Experience My experience has been one of attending bible lectures 5 times a week, taking part in these lectures in front of an audience and being with thousands of J.W. at conventions where I have seen the bible at work in peoples lives. It is truly a miracle when you see thousands of people meeting together and not one policeman needed, and not even a piece of litter in sight. It is like another world.
Question In 1956 The Watchtower exposed Johannes Greber as being a Spiritist. They went into great detail about Johannes Greber's occult involvement in the February 15, 1956 Watchtower.
They then quoted favorably from Johannes Greber in:

Make sure of all things... Page 489, "a god"
The Watchtower 9/15/1962 Pg 554, The Word
The Watchtower 10/15/1975 Pg 640 No Resurrection
The Watchtower 4/15/1976 Pg 231 No Resurrection
The Word Pg 5 "a God"
brenda,
1]Why is their theology lining up with a spirit medium on a number of points?
2]Why did the people in charge of "food at proper time" use an occultist as a source of reliable information to quote from?
3] Can you really trust this organization for your eternal salvation?
Answer I quote from the "Watchtower 1983" someone asked this question--
"Why, in recent years, has The Watchtower not made use of the translation by the former Catholic priest, Johannes Greber?"
ANSWER--"This translation was used occasionally in support of renderings of Matthew 27:52, 53 and John 1:1, as given in the New World Translation and other authoritative Bible versions. But as indicated in a foreword to the 1980 edition of The New Testament by Johannes Greber, this translator relied on “God's Spirit World” to clarify for him how he should translate difficult passages. It is stated: “His wife, a medium of God's Spiritworld was often instrumental in conveying the correct answers from God's Messengers to Pastor Greber.” The Watchtower has deemed it improper to make use of a translation that has such a close rapport with spiritism. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12) The scholarship that forms the basis for the rendering of the above-cited texts in the New World Translation is sound and for this reason does not depend at all on Greber's translation for authority. Nothing is lost, therefore, by ceasing to use his New Testament."
